For Once, I Would Like To
Ruminations on what being an adult is like in the twenty first century
For once, I would like to read something without a call to action.
For once, I would like to open up Instagram and not see an ad after every two posts I see.
For once, I would like to hear less angst about being a creative and/or having a creative job.
For once, I would like to hear less people say, “You can make money with your writing!”
For once, I would like to read an honest, thoughtful and vulnerable account of a simple story.
For once, I would like to think less about SEO practices.
For once, I would like to think less about how I need to introduce myself with multiple titles like “I’m a writer, editor, accountant, etc.”
For once, I would like to see less options on Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Peacock or one of the many streaming sites because options give me decision paralysis.
For once, I would like to have more discussions with people about books, movies, and what being an adult is like nowadays.
For once, I would like to have conversations with other parents and share advice.
For once, I would like to feel less awkward about going up to someone and introducing myself.
For once, I would like to have more time so I can respond to a million emails that I’ve ignored (ahem, set aside for later).
For once, I would like to not be confused as to which platform I need to be on in order to gain more followers.
For once, I would like to think less about gaining followers and more about gaining friends.
For once, I would like to write about whatever I want without fear of judgment.
For once, I would like to finish editing my first novel and then write another one.
For once, I would like to be less distracted. See above.
For once, I would like to just be me.
This probably goes against what I just said above, but hey — If you liked this post can you please let me know by clicking on the heart button, sharing or commenting? I do love hearing from readers!

My husband and I went on an epic trip to Vietnam (with the kids!) in May and I wrote about it here.
